One reason we find design work so rewarding is that we have the ability to help clients in challenging design situations. For example, it can be frustrating to find out your graphic designer is no longer in business when you need updates to something they worked on. This is especially true when you have already invested a good deal of time, energy, and money to create a professional multi-page brochure design–and only need a handful of updates. Even though our client wasn’t sure where to start, we discussed his booklet design project during his free design consultation. We then took his limited resources and used our experience in design, image editing, vector work, and basic ingenuity to recreate and update his design in a high-quality print-ready format.
To complete this sports brochure design update, we used an older version created in outdated software to isolate and extract the images and text. Although the original design program used was not standard–we were still able to extract all the images and text to recreate the design in a proper print-ready format. Once the new design was created, we made changes to ensure the new design matched their most recent version. We then made all necessary changes to text, added images, removed backgrounds on some images (created transparencies), and enhanced some qualities of the design. It was a lot of work but definitely worth the effort.
In addition to needing a print-ready design sent to the printer, this client also needed a pdf for their customers. We were able to provide the customer with a compressed, legible pdf catalog design under 850KB in size. Having this will allow him to email his catalog to customers in a usable/readable format.
Our client was extremely happy with the outcome and the new design touches–and we were excited to be part of making this process as easy as possible for them.
